Game 16: Yankees @ Red Sox, 4/24/09

Big series as always, Yankees at Fenway to take on Boston.  As per Pete Abraham, below are the lineups.  Note the presence of Posada’s bat as DH, but Molina’s glove and arm behind the dish.  Note also Melky getting the nod in CF against the tough lefty Lester.  The bottom of the lineup worries me with Melky, who has been good at .304 but is not as strong batting righty, Molina eighth, and Ransom ninth.  Hopefully Cody or one of the bottom three can rip a couple off or over the monster to help the cause.  Joba has to be good in the top-flight match-up against Lester, who I think is tremendous and a good story coming back from cancer.

I’ll say what I usually say–Yanks take two of three.  Enjoy tonight’s game.  HDLR on Sunday night.

  1. I can’t believe Nick Green is Boston’s starting shortstop, then again I can’t believe Cody Ransom is the Yankees starting third baseman.

  2. Yeah, two sore thumbs Chris. Watch them combine for a 7-10 night at the plate tonight. By the way, good call on PaVoldemort’s infuriating start last week. You were but an inning off.

  3. This game made me sick.

  4. Same here, Mike S. It gave me that “What a waste” feeling I had July 24, 2004–the fight game when the Yanks blew a five-run lead and lost 11-10–and especially April 20, 2007–when the Yanks collapsed in the eighth and coughed up Andy’s great start and a four-run cushion. It happens periodically at Fenway, so I won’t get overly exercised, but last night was a punch in the gut.

  6. You love trolling, shanna, nothing more.
