Game 63: Mets @ Yankees, 6/14/09

Below, as per Pete Abraham, are the lineups.  The Yanks need to approach Johan as they did Pedro during his excellent days with Boston–patience, working up the pitch count, and keeping the game close to get to other pitchers afterward.

The team has struggled both with the bats, as I blogged earlier, and the pitching as Mike Sommer wrote this morning, I see.  All this says nothing of the defense the last week and a half, which has been subpar.

Apparently K-Rod confronted Bruney in the outfield during today’s warm-ups and shoved him over Bruney’s saying that the Friday night giveaway couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.  I agree with Bruney–K-Rod is a histrionic, self-centered jerk.  Yet Bruney and the Yanks as a whole should be more focused on playing better baseball than publicly calling out people like K-Rod.  Maybe this will fire them up after yesterday’s languid loss.  Now I’m more intrigued to see what will transpire today, but I’m going to the pool with the kids on a warm day.  Enjoy the game.
