Game 132: Yankees @ Orioles, 9/1/09

Below, as per Pete Abraham, are tonight’s lineups. JD gets the “half-day off” at DH, while Hinske takes right and Swish moves to left.  It is certainly not the strongest defensive outfield alignment I’ve seen but, at this point in the season, one the Yanks can afford in order to apportion some rest to JD, who has been terrific.  Hopefully with the call-ups–Pena, Cervelli, Melancon, Edwar, and lefty Mike Dunn–the Yanks can afford to rest others at least one at a time until the team starts clinching.  Hopefully, also, Burnett can replicate his last start against Texas tonight, sans the three-batter meltdown of walk-walk-grooved meatball for a homer.  On the whole, A.J. has been rather good.  Depending upon what value one places on the statistic, he does have the most quality starts on the team (18 out of 26).  That’s pretty good.  It’s just that, on those occasions when he has been bad, he has been awful.  The Yanks look to move to a season-high 36 games above .500, having finished up a great August 21-7.  Keep it rolling through September and October, guys.  Enjoy the game, everyone.

  1. Another bad night for AJ 6 more runs only got 10 wins era over 4.30 way too many walks too many home runs not the best.

  2. I hear you, Nick. When he has been good, A.J. has been outstanding; when bad, he’s atrocious. He leaves little doubt.
